Darryl Grant played defensive tackle for eleven seasons for the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Grant played college football at Rice University.

Grant was drafted by the Redskins in the ninth round of the 1981 NFL Draft. The Redskins decided to turn him into a defensive lineman, even though he played offensive guard in college. After using his 1981 rookie year to adjust to the rigors of playing defensive tackle in the NFL, Grant joined the defensive line rotation starting in 1982.

Grant went on to become a fixture on Joe Gibbs’ Redskins teams in the 1980s. Grant was one of the contributors during a period (his Redskins career 1981–1990) that saw the Redskins make the playoffs six times, including three trips to the Super Bowl (two wins) and four conference championship appearances (three wins).

SIX YEAR STREAK ALIVE- 2016 SUPERBOWL PREDICTION

Well I am at it again! Last year, my prediction was Seahawks vs. Bengals in the Superbowl. I had the Bengals wrong but Seahawks right. This makes five straight seasons where I pick two teams to make it to the Superbowl and each year I get one team right. This year I am planning to keep my streak alive.

Of course you will hear people say that I have picked great teams to make the Superbowl. However, I think my prediction is far more than luck. I pick before any preseason games are played. I pick before all players are truly on a roster. I also pick before season ending injuries.

Here is the look back from the previous five seasons of teams I pick to make it, and they made it to the SuperBowl.
2011- Packers
2012- Patriots
2013- 49ers
2014- Broncos
2015- Seahawks

So now for this the 2015-2016 season, who will make it to the Superbowl? I think these two teams will shock a lot of viewers. I put a lot of thought into this process like I do every year. Then the last thing I let happen is feeling my heart telling me to agree with myself. So with that being said, here are the two teams!

Falcons vs. Steelers

Steelers win 31-27

Of course many people would want to know why. Why do you pick those teams? Some will even laugh. Then I can explain this reason and that reason. Yet no matter what there is no other good reason then my heart saying it’s a true good prediction. The only thing that can stop these two teams from making it, is if their starting Quarterbacks go down. So let’s roll the dice and just see what happens. I know I am ready to say… I told you so!

What are your thoughts?

NFL PROSEPECT- DARIUS ALLEN- OLB- COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY- PUEBLO

My interview with a talented player that can play DE and OLB position. One thing for sure, the changing of the 4-3 to the 3-4 this year only shows the NFL teams that Allen sure can learn the system and would be a great fit where ever he lands in the National Football League. Here is my interview with Allen.

20131205_Allen

What year were you born?

1992

Where were you born?

Lexington, Kentucky

When did you start playing football?

I was 6 years old. 1998.

What does football mean to you?

Everything, I love everything about the game. The build up to the game. The adrenaline when I exit the locker room to play in a game. Everything about football just excites me. I love making big plays and making the crowd go wild. Football is a blessing.

Were you a starter or backup player when you first started playing football?

I was a starter. Haha. I played for the Constitution Patriots in Lexington, Kentucky and I was a running back. Me and this other kid named Michael Baffour who actually now plays for the Louisville Cardinal basketball team and was apart of their NCAA championship run in 2013. We were the feature backs.

What was your biggest accomplishment at Pueblo East High School?

Firstly, my last game of my high school career, the football game went into overtime and I got the ball first play and scored the game-winning touchdown. Also, Winning south central league Defensive MVP & lastly, playing in the state championship game against Sierra High School in a losing effort finishing 2nd in state. Best experience ever though.

Why did you decide to play for Colorado State University-Pueblo?

I wasn’t recruited by many schools. I had a preferred walk on to play at CU-Boulder. Didn’t feel like I wanted to be a walk-on to a team. Coaches John Wristen, Paul Creighton had great things planned for me in I chose to join the Thunderwolves. Also, my cousin was in his Senior year at CSU-Pueblo so he urged me to join him and play there with him.

Can you name any awards/honors you have received while playing at Colorado State University-Pueblo?

3 Conference Championships. 42 straight regular season wins. Gene Upshaw Award. All-American for every All-American team. Colorado Defensive Player of the year. National Defensive Player of the year honors.

What did it mean to be named Gene Upshaw Division II lineman of the year?

It meant the world to me. I’ve worked extremely hard to get to this point in my career and I’ve had great friends who helped me better myself on the field. Ryan Jensen (Ravens) toughened me up quite a bit slamming me into the dirt my freshman and sophomore year. Michael Pennel (Packers) freed up many gaps for me during that season allowing me to run around and make plays. The Gene Upshaw put the stamp on how hard I’ve worked throughout my career.

What has been your biggest accomplishment as an athlete?

I’d say just being blessed with the opportunity to get on the field as a kid and play the game. Lord knows my grandma didn’t want me playing such a physical sport. So yea suiting up for the first time as a kid is my biggest accomplishment as an athlete. If that never happened we wouldn’t be talking about me and football today.

What keeps you motivated?

My family. Knowing where I’ve come from and how far I have came improving my life everyday. I know it’ll can all be over one day so I just want to continue to make the most out of each day. Knowing the chance I have. That’s my motivation.

What would you say is your biggest strengths on the field?

Darius-Allen-2

My speed and ability to stay relentless throughout a pursuit.

Do you feel you have any weakness?

Yes, everyone has weaknesses but I can’t tell you. Haha.

Can you provide any struggles you have faced in your life?

What would playing in the National Football League mean to you and your school?

It’d mean we as a program and I as a person have accomplished great things. I play for a program who wasn’t even a program before 2008 and we’ve taken the nation by storm on this level with the passion in our play. I am a person who’s been through a lot and overcome adversity like many others in the NFL countless times but I continue to stay focused on the ultimate goal. It means we’ve solidified our name throughout the nation and people are beginning to take notice. We’ve had a guy make a roster in each of the last two years. 3 in a row would be amazing.

Will you enter the 2015 NFL draft?

Yes. This is my final year of college.

Any last words you like to give?

For all the student athletes out there, continue to work hard and overcome. Your day is near.

What year were you born? I was born in 1990

Where were you born? My birth place is Charlotte, NC but I was raised in Atlanta, GA

When did you start playing football? I started playing football at the age of 5

What does football mean to you? Football is life. Meaning it plays a major part of my life,  at the end of the day if I end up playing no more football my life will still be around the game from coaching to even being a speaker to teams telling them my story and how to keep pushing.

Were you a starter or backup player when you first started playing football? To be honest I was always bigger then my other team mates so that made me a starter and I was a natural talent defensive end has always been my position.

What was your biggest accomplishment at Redan and Stephenson HS? Stephenson I was able to make it to the last round of the play-offs with one of the best team in school history. I started defensive end my sophomore year at Stephenson playing along with Five current NFL players Jermaine Cunningham, Perry Riley, Marcus Ball, Bruce Irvin, Kelvin Sheppard. We all played on the starting defense that year so that was a huge accomplishment to play with those guys and learn great leadership skills. Redan I made All-Dekalb county both my junior and senior year(2007-2008). Nike camp D-Line MVP (2007) at UGA. 2-AAAAA All Region player of the year (2008).

Why did you pick Johnson C. Smith University?  I had sat out of football for two years before coming to Smith, my mother moved back to Charlotte,NC. I was missing the game so I walked on at Smith.

How did you stay fit this offseason? Staying in the weight room was my major plan this past off season. Many people told me I was only able to pass rush I knew in order to catch a scouts eye I had to do both stop the run and rush the passer. So far this season its showing, I can stop the run well at least the little runs that comes my way.

Can you name any awards you were given while playing college football?
• All-CIAA 1st team

• Tonysoftli.com 2014 d2 pre season All-American

What did being named first All-American selection mean to you? The last time Johnson C. Smith University had a player named was in 2008. It was a true blessing to have a great accomplishment like that. It really made me realize that I still had it, red-shirting the 2012 season helped me get my skills back on point. When 2013 season came I was unknown so I was able to make a quick impact on the CIAA.

Who are you excited to play this year? Winston Salam State University

What has been your biggest accomplishment as an athlete? Making history at JCSU being an All-American

What keeps you motivated? My mother, and the man upstairs for giving me another chance to chase my dream.

What would you say is your biggest strengths on the field? Rushing the passer is a natural talent for me. Stopping the run is becoming another add to strengths on the field.

Can you provide any struggles you have faced in your life? Living with a single mother and seeing how she faced the struggle help me face my challenges then and now. Staying positive at all times regardless of how hard it gets.

What player in the NFL do you model your game after and why? Tamba Hali is a great pass rusher and run stopper. His work and dedication to the games helps to keep me pushing.

Do you think you have what it takes to be better than Tamba Hali? Yes indeed because he is human just like me. The difference is he had a better opportunity.

Will you enter the 2015 NFL draft? Yes

Any last words you like to give? My story has helped me and the challenges I faced on my path to success I’ve learned from. Being a little older helped me develop more love for the game and I know what I have to do once I’m at the next level.

GET TO KNOW: Isaiah Fleming, LB, Cheyney University

**Was posted on NFL DRAFT DIAMONDS ON 10-08-2014**

Isaiah Fleming is a small school sleeper linebacker playing for Cheyney University. Some would question his size as to small for the NFL, but just like Ray Lewis, London Fletcher, and James Harrison it is truly about character. If your dream and passion is to play in the National Football League you will work hard to have a character that defines who you truly are as a player.
